Related to and somewhat resembling hollyhock (Alcea), but bushier, with smaller, roundish leaves.  Easy to grow; need good drainage, average soil.  Grow from seed; usually bloom first year.  Use in perennial borders or for a quick tall edging.   Perennial.  Erect, branching, to 3 feet tall, with finely cut leaves and inch-wide (or somewhat larger) flowers, summer to fall.  Entire plant emits a mild, musky fragrance if brushed or bruised.
