Coffee Ring

From the Kitchen of Marjorie Roy

 

3 c flour

1/3 c sugar

5 t baking powder

1 t salt

1/4 c crisco

1 egg

3/4 c milk

3/4 c raisins

1/2 c nuts

Mix and sisft flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in crisco. Add beaten egg and enough milk to make soft dough. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Spread with softened butter. Sprinkle with raisins and nuts and 1 T sugar. Roll like jelly roll and bring ends together in circle. Put on large greased pan and cut gashes around edge with scissors 2 inches apart. Bake in moderate oven. Spread top with Confectioner's Frosting.

Confectioner's Frosting

1 1/2 T butter

1 1/2 c confectioner's sugar

3 T cream

1/8 t salt

1 t vanilla
