A rhizomatous perennial with 5 leaflets, the center one up to 1 1/2 inches long.  The young leaflets, petioles, and lower leaf surface are pubescent with long, silky hairs.  A northern species extending southward to Georgia, these often weedy plants are relatively frequent in pastures, lawns, and along the margins of woodlands more or less throughout our state.   March - May.  [Justice, William S. and Bell, C.
